CQ 100 best Annual 2015

Good news! Exciting news!

I have been selected as one of top 100 artists for the Creative Quarterly Annual 2015 and my work, including this portraits of Virginia Woolf and Tina Modotti, will appear in the CQ special 100 Best Annual publication, to be printed in March-April 2016.

Butterflies in a songbook

Mail day! 

I received a parcel from Berlin, full of wonderful gifts by the lovely charity.children: their songbook - for which I illustrated the song 'Butterflies' - their new album 'Fabel' plus other CDs, stickers and paper goods, including a huge poster by Alberto Madrigal.

I am very proud of them 'cause we first met some years ago, at the beginning of this crazy adventure and I did the illustrations and hand-writings for their first album 'The Autumn Came'. 

Many many song have been played in the streets, so far!

Quest'anno la libreria Radice-Labirinto di Carpi ha realizzato un calendario dell'avvento molto speciale e a cui sono molto lieta di aver partecipato. Qui tutte le informazioni sul progetto e sul perché è tanto particolare.

Alessia mi ha fatto qualche domanda invitandomi ad entrare nel suo giardino virtuale: ecco dove ci ha portate la nostra breve chiacchierata (qui).

E sul retro di questa cartolina, c'è anche una sua poesia che tanto mi ricorda i giorni d'inverno di quando ero piccola.

I found this short silent story while trying to get some order in the studio drawers.
I did it a couple of years ago, and I still like it. I might move ahead and write/draw some more pages!

eight = 8 = infinite possibilities

Last year I had been selected to participate with two of my picturebooks (Arturo and Simon et Naslat) and my self-publishing label Red Boots in the 8th edition of Como Pedro Por Mi Casa, a festival of illustrated books based in Barcelona.  They created a beautiful catalogue for the event, asking to all the participants to make a black&white illustration of number 8 and designing a mix-match book with infinite possibilities of combination. 

The book has been printed at The Folio Club.

It took a while to have it, but it's finally on my desk!

as a dead baby, the world itself is a bad dream.”

[...] Nata nel 1932 a Boston, Sylvia Plath era una ragazza che voleva scrivere a tutti i costi, tanto da riuscire a proporre cinquanta diversi testi al magazine Seventeen (un periodico statunitense tuttora in attività) prima di essere pubblicata. Nel 1953 un treno la portò da Wellesley nel Massachusetts a New York, diretta al suo tirocinio come guest editor da Mademoiselle, una rivista per giovani donne che aveva una tiratura di 500.000 copie. Negli anni a venire le sue poesie la resero molto più famosa dei racconti che aveva scritto da più giovane, ma l’unico suo romanzo (semi-autobiografico) risale al 1963. Si intitola The Bell Jar (in italiano La campana di vetro) e fu pubblicato con lo pseudonimo di Victoria Lucas un mese prima dell’11 febbraio, quando la scrittrice preparò due fette di pane e burro e due tazze di latte per i bambini prima di sigillare porte e finestre e infilare la testa nel forno a gas. Międzynarodowy Dzień Dziecka

In molti paesi il I°giugno è una festa speciale: la giornata internazionale dei bambini.
Fu proclamata per la prima volta nel 1925 e poi istituita stabilmente nel 1954 dall'Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite. Viene celebrata in tutto il mondo ma in date diverse.

In Italia non è una festa conosciuta, ma io sono stata fortunata: un'infanzia mezza polacca, e questo bellissimo manifesto di Janusz Grabianski appeso in cameretta.

Diffondiamo la festa! Auguri a tutti i bambini!
